Leena Helminen appointed CEO of Suomen Lantakaasu Oy as of 15 January 2025

Leena Helminen, M.Sc. (Econ.), has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Suomen Lantakaasu Oy as of 15 January 2025. Leena Helminen was previously a Business Director at Valio with responsibility for leading the Suomen Lantakaasu development projects and investments on the Valio side in cooperation with St1Biokraft. She has also held different director positions in food industry companies and was a management consultant.   

”With the Nurmo and Kiuruvesi investment decisions and construction, Suomen Lantakaasu Oy is moving to the next phase as planned. Under Leena Helminen’s leadership, we will ensure that the good progress made in the construction projects continues according to plan, with the aim of building a 1 terawatt-hour biogas production network in Finland,” says Tuomas Salusjärvi, Chairman of the Board of Suomen Lantakaasu Oy. 

Leena Helminen will continue to work in close cooperation with Suomen Lantakaasu Oy’s parent companies, St1Biokraft and Valio.

”This is a good time to move forward with Suomen Lantakaasu’s business on a full-time basis. Last autumn, Suomen Lantakaasu Oy announced investments of more than EUR 60 million in a biogas plant in Nurmo and more than EUR 80 million in Kiuruvesi. The biogas plants under construction are planned to be operational in 2026 and we are promoting the plant projects currently being planned. I am very excited to launch the investments in domestic renewable energy and build a new company in the biogas business,” says Leena Helminen.
